Facebook and Instagrame currently Down ?

Facebook users are indicating that the social media platform is currently experiencing outages, rendering it inaccessible and inactive.

As 17,000 app users voiced their concerns on outage monitoring platform Downdetector, it became clear that Facebook, owned by Meta, was experiencing massive problems.

According to Downdetector, 64% of users experienced problems with the website, 22% experienced problems with the app, and 14% reported problems with the logging service.

According to Down Detector, reports of Facebook outages began around 3 a.m. and are still ongoing, with many users still experiencing issues at the time of this writing.

Instagram users have also reported that the photo-sharing social media platform is also down with more than 9,000 outage reports.

Users of Instagram have reported problems with the app with more than 88% of users taking to Downdetector. 

Other Meta-owned platforms seem to be experiencing issues too, including Threads and Whatsapp, a new platform that operates with Instagram.

YouTube users may also be experiencing problems.

Is Facebook and Instagram down?

Users of the platform turned to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express their concern over the outage.

One user tweeted: “Is anyone else experiencing their #Facebook account being logged out? I can’t seem to log back in; it says ‘session expired’ or ‘unexpected error.’ Keeps showing up.

Another user said: “I’ve just been kicked out of Facebook, and Instagram won’t even load. My first instinct was, ‘Have my accounts been compromised?’ Thankfully, it looks like it’s just #facebookdown and #instagramdown.”

A different Facebook user posted: “Hey, Facebook! Anyone else having trouble logging out of their #Facebook account? I’m unable to log back in; it says ‘Session Expired’ or ‘Unregistered.’ Keeps showing ‘expected error’. #facebookdown # meta.

What is DownDector?

DownDector is an online website that allows users to report issues with popular services like Facebook and Instagram. It tracks the number of problem reports and only reports an incident when the volume is significantly higher than usual for that time of day.

The site only reports an incident when the number of problem reports is significantly higher than the typical volume for that time of day.
