In Cairo: on Sunday, China and Arab League countries jointly called for an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire in the conflict-hit Palestinian territory of Gaza.
The two parties also emphasized on the implementation of relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and the General Assembly to deal with the situation in Gaza and the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. A joint statement stressed the need to end all forms of violence against civilians and to stop violations of international and humanitarian law.
The agreement was reached in a meeting between Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, and Ahmed Abul Ghait, the Chinese Foreign Minister and Secretary General of the League of Arab States.
Both sides stand against the forced displacement of Palestinian citizens and demand the immediate release of all prisoners. They advocate the establishment of a humanitarian coordination mechanism and emphasize the importance of ensuring humanitarian access to the Gaza Strip through a sustainable, rapid, secure and unhindered mechanism.

The statement highlighted that any decision on the future and destiny of Palestine must adhere to the principle of “Palestinians ruling Palestine”. It emphasizes that the basis of any possible arrangement for the welfare of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank (including East Jerusalem) is a two-state solution.
Expressing deep concern over the recent escalation of tensions in the Red Sea region, both sides stressed the importance of respecting Yemen’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Additionally, they emphasize the need to ensure the security of international trade routes in the Red Sea.
The Chinese delegation acknowledged the important role of the Arab counterparts in reducing regional tensions and preventing a large-scale humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.
On the other hand, the Arab side sincerely appreciates China’s efforts in de-escalating the Gaza conflict, achieving a ceasefire, supporting the just cause of the Palestinian people, and appreciates the position paper of the People’s Republic of China on the Palestinian solution.
