Palworld Sells Over 1 Million Copies in Just 8 Hours as Steam Servers Struggle to Cope With Launch
Paulworld has achieved a remarkable milestone by selling more than a million copies within just eight hours of its launch, as confirmed by its developer, Pocketpair.
Dubbed ‘Pokémon with Guns’, Paulworld debuted on the morning of January 19 and quickly rose to the top of Steam’s best-selling games chart. Additionally, it holds a position in the top four most played games on Steam, boasting 365,000 concurrent players at the time of this article’s publication. Notably, Paulworld claimed third place, beating battle royale game PUBG, with a ‘highly positive’ user review rating.
Given the availability of the game on Xbox and Windows PC via Game Pass, the number of actual concurrent players of Paulworld is expected to be significantly higher.
However, the large influx of players at launch caused server problems. Pocketpair said that Palworld’s servers have become unstable, which can cause connection problems. “We are working to resolve this as soon as possible!” PocketPear tweeted.
“Meanwhile, some users have reported success in connecting 2-3 times or waiting after starting the game,” the developer continued.
Amid the launch success of Paulworld, it’s worth noting that the Xbox version lags behind the Steam version in terms of functionality. And now that Paleworld is out of the woods, Pokemon fans are voicing their concern over the similarities between the two games.
